Accuneb Helps Treat and Prevent Symptoms of Asthma and COPD

Accuneb or generic Salbutamol is prescribed to prevent and treat wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and chest tightness caused by lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, also known as COPD, which is a collective name for chronic bronchitis and emphysema that affect the lungs and airways. The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.

How Accuneb Opens Up Airways

Accuneb is an oral medication called a short-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist. When taken as directed, it works by stimulating beta receptors located in your body, including on the muscles that surround your airways. This action causes the smooth muscles to relax which allows your airways to open wider and increase the airflow so you are able to breathe easier.

Conditions Treated by Accuneb

It is not known exactly what causes asthma; but it has been established that it does run in families, it is more common in people with allergies, and triggers include pollution. When your lungs are irritated, the muscles around your airways tighten. This restricts the airflow to your lungs and causes wheezing, coughing, and breathing difficulties. For a child, this can be extremely frightening.

Allergens such as pet dander, tobacco smoke, and even weather changes can trigger an asthma attack. Accuneb can help prevent these flare-ups and stop the muscles from constricting the airways so you can enjoy everyday activities with friends and family and experience less “sick days”.

COPD can progress slowly over the years, usually as a result of the damage to your lungs from smoking. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema causes an obstruction of your air flow and the damage sustained is usually permanent and could be from years of inhaling chemicals at work, polluted air, and from tobacco use. Accuneb is not a cure for asthma or COPD, but it will help with your breathing so you will be able to carry out your daily tasks, work, play, and enjoy yourself.

Before You Take Accuneb

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or congestive heart failure, a heart rhythm disorder; epilepsy, diabetes, overactive thyroid, kidney problems, adrenal gland tumor, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Make sure that you provide your doctor with a list of all OTC and Rx drugs you are taking, including any herbal preparations, vitamin supplements, and other asthma drugs. Combining Accuneb with other drugs could cause unintended side effects or change the efficacy of the medication.

Accuneb Precautions

Be sure to take the Accuneb dosage as prescribed by your doctor. Accuneb should be swallowed whole; do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take Accuneb on an empty stomach (1 hour before food or 2 hours after food).
