ARNUITY ELLIPTA (FLUTICASONE FUROATE)

Arnuity Ellipta Description

For those adults and children 12 years old and up that are dealing with poorly controlled asthma, talk to your doctor about Arnuity Ellipta. This inhaled medication will help to control and prevent asthma attacks with one inhalation, once per day. The use of Arnuity Ellipta will help to reduce your time lost from work, school, and other events that you may miss out on due to sudden asthma attacks that cause a severe wheeze when trying to breathe, a non-stop cough, tightness in your chest, and feelings of panic. With Arnuity Ellipta, the number of sudden asthma attacks are fewer but you will still require a rescue inhaler for such times.

Reduce Production of the Chemicals that Cause Inflammation

When used as directed, the active ingredient called Fluticasone Furoate will be inhaled into your lungs and work to suppress your immune system by inhibiting the action of certain enzymes. This will decrease the production of the inflammatory chemicals so the muscles surrounding your airways are able to relax and allow you to breathe easily.

Arnuity Ellipta will carry on throughout the day to maintain control of your symptoms. Your attacks and the need for a rescue inhaler becomes less frequent but you should always be prepared just in case as Arnuity Ellipta will not act quickly enough to restore proper breathing.

Conditions Treated by Arnuity Ellipta

The cause of asthma is still unknown for the most part, but it does tend to run in families and is more common in those with allergies. You are more likely to experience asthma attacks more often if allergies are involved depending on the number of triggers that can set it off.

When you are exposed to an allergen, your immune system signals a threat and inflammation is caused to contain it, accompanied by swelling. As the muscles around your airways tighten, you experience shortness of breath, coughing and other symptoms.

Before Arnuity Ellipta is Prescribed

Inform your doctor of any significant medical conditions or allergies you have and any OTC or Rx meds you currently take or use, including herbal and vitamin supplements. Ask about any risks of using Arnuity Ellipta if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breast feeding. If you find you need your rescue inhaler more often than before, see your doctor right away as dosage adjustments may be needed to assure Arnuity Ellipta is providing the help you need.

Arnuity Ellipta Precautions and Proper Use

This medicine may cause your airways to spasm after inhaling so try using the fast-acting inhaler first and waiting a few minutes before your Arnuity Ellipta dose. Remember to always rinse your mouth out after using Arnuity Ellipta or you are at risk for a thrush infection. Store Arnuity Ellipta out of children’s reach and away from direct heat, sunlight, and dampness. It could take up to 2 weeks before you benefit from the full effects of Arnuity Ellipta, so be patient.
