DERMATOP CREAM (PREDNICARBATE)

Description of Dermatop Cream

If you are looking for relief from inflammation and itching caused by psoriasis, eczema, or other bothersome skin conditions, your doctor may recommend a prescription for Dermatop Cream. This medium strength topical corticosteroid formula will calm your symptoms before you risk a possible infection from scratching so hard and often that the skin barrier is broken and an infection can occur.

Dermatop Cream is not a cure for psoriasis or eczema, but it will suppress the events that are triggered by your immune system from an immune response to a bug sting, allergen, or autoimmune system reaction.

How Dermatop Cream Works

The active ingredient of Dermatop Cream is Prednicarbate, a fairly new topical corticosteroid and derivative of Prednisolone. Dermatop Cream provides a lower potential to cause skin atrophy which is a side effect from long-term use with many topical corticosteroid products. When applied as instructed, Prednicarbate inhibits the production of inflammatory chemicals, including prostaglandins, as well as helping to constrict the blood vessels that carry an increased blood flow to the affected area, and other fluids that cause redness and swelling.

More Info on Eczema and Psoriasis

Some of the most recent research on eczema is pointing to an impaired skin barrier that is allowing toxins, allergens, and antigens to permeate your skin and trigger your immune response indicating you are in danger. A cascade of events take place when danger from a foreign intruder is detected. The result is swelling, inflammation, and itchy skin.

Psoriasis is thought to be an autoimmune condition that, for reasons unknown, is triggered by something that causes a change in your body that your immune system believes to be harmful. In the case of psoriasis, the skin cell cycle is affected and new skin cells are being produced more rapidly than normal. The older cells have not had time to shed or slough off and the new cells bunch up and stick to them, causing the scaly patches of skin, inflammation, and itchiness.

Before Applying Dermatop Cream

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding to be certain of any risks Dermatop Cream could cause. Explain other medical conditions and allergies you have to your doctor and list any OTC and Rx medications you currently take or use, including herbal remedies and dietary or vitamin supplements. This can determine if Dermatop Cream will be helpful to you.

Cautions of Applying Topical Corticosteroids

Apply only a thin layer of Dermatop Cream to the affected skin and do not cover or bandage the area unless instructed to do so by your doctor. Do not apply to children under the age 1 year old or share Dermatop Cream with others. For gaining the full benefits of Dermatop Cream, apply for the entire time period as directed, even if it appears the skin has cleared or healed already. Do not apply other topical creams, ointment, or lotions until Dermatop Cream has been fully absorbed.
