ACZONE GEL (DAPSONE)

Aczone Gel Description

Aczone Gel is a prescription strength topical antibiotic preparation that is used to help control acne. It helps decrease the number and severity of acne pimples and helps the pimples that do develop to heal more quickly. Aczone Gel has both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties which make it effective in treating acne.

Acne usually appears on the face and neck, but it can include shoulders, back, and arms. Most teens are affected by acne to some degree as the surge in sex hormones that happens at puberty also seems to jumpstart acne. Prevention is the best treatment for acne scars, which includes treating acne early and controlling it to prevent new lesions from forming.

Aczone Gel Reduces Inflammation

When applied as directed, Dapsone, the active ingredient in Aczone Gel, is absorbed into your skin cells and targets the production of inflammatory chemicals in your body that cause the redness and discomfort. As these chemicals, including prostaglandins, are reduced in the affected areas, the inflammation is calmed down and your affected areas of skin is less painful as the bacteria disappear an your skin begins to heal.

Conditions Treated by Aczone Gel

Many different types of medications can be used to treat acne, a condition that is most common among teenagers. Acne can also be a lifelong condition or it may show up during pregnancy. Aczone Gel is prescribed to treat acne vulgaris, simply called acne, a chronic and common skin condition.

Several factors lead to the development of acne. These include inflammation, over production of skin oil known as sebum, presence of bacteria and the clogging of skin pores. Normally, dead skin cells rise to the surface of the pore and are easily shed. However, when the body produces an excess amount of sebum and dead skin cells, they can build up in the hair follicles and create an environment for bacteria to thrive and inflammation results.

Before Aczone Gel is Prescribed

Although risk of the ingredients reaching your bloodstream are minimal, ask your doctor about possible harm if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or are beast feeding. Discuss other acne products you currently use on your skin with your doctor to be certain of any risks that may occur if applied shortly before or after Aczone Gel. Your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight so you should apply at least an SPF 15 sunscreen to the treated areas 10-15 minutes after applying Aczone Gel.

Aczone Gel Precautions

Advise your doctor about all of your medical conditions before receiving a prescription to buy Aczone Gel.
