Description of Elocom Cream

Elocom Cream or generic Mometasone is a topical corticosteroid medication prescribed to treat itchy, inflamed skin caused by eczema, psoriasis, allergic reactions, and other irritating rashes. This is a treatment only for eczema and psoriasis, as there is no cure for these skin conditions, and should only be applied for as long as the flare-up lasts or the time period specified by your doctor. How This Topical Corticosteroid Works

When applied to the affected area as directed, Elocom Cream is absorbed into your skin cells where it stops the production of inflammation causing chemicals, such as prostaglandins, that your immune response has signaled to warn of a real or perceived threat. With the decreases of these chemicals, the symptoms of itching, redness, and inflammation are reduced.

Proper Use of Elocom Cream

Do not apply a dressing to the affected areas after applying Elocom Cream unless directed to do so by your doctor as this could increase the absorption rate and cause a severe reaction. Elocom Cream should only be applied as directed and should not be used to treat bacterial skin infections, fungal infections, or viral skin infections. Do not apply on young children without consulting your doctor first as Mometasone is considered a mid-strength potency.
