EPIDUO GEL (ADAPALENE/BENZOYL PEROXIDE)

Epiduo Gel Description

Epiduo Gel is a topical medication that combines Adapalene with Benzoyl Peroxide and your doctor may recommend a prescription to treat your moderate to severe acne. This skin condition can cause you to become very self conscious about your appearance and without proper treatment, acne can cause scarring. It may take several weeks before your skin shows improvement, so continue to apply Epiduo Gel and be patient.

A Combination Treatment to Improve Your Skin’s Appearance

When applied as instructed, Adapalene works similar to vitamin A in that it helps to reduce the redness and inflammation as well as exfoliate your problem areas to unclog your pores so acne formation beneath your skin’s surface is prevented.

Benzoyl Peroxide works as an antibacterial agent that kills the bacteria that can cause acne while mildly drying your skin to allow dirt and oil to be washed away easier so acne cannot return. Your skin will feel clean and renewed by applying Epiduo Gel as directed by your doctor or dermatologist.

Conditions Treated by Epiduo Gel

Acne can occur when the oil glands of the hair follicles on your chest, back, or face are stimulated during puberty by a male hormone called Dihydro Testosterone. Both sexes have male and female hormones, but at different levels. These oil glands begin to over-produce sebum (oil) that your skin needs as a lubricant and for protection. The extra oil can clog your pores causing redness, swelling, and inflammation. As the follicle becomes bigger, the wall can rupture and allow bacteria and dirt access to the deeper layers of your skin. Epiduo Gel will help decrease the dirt and oil on your skin through exfoliation and helps decrease bacterial numbers so your skin will look refreshed and unblemished.

Before You Use Epiduo Gel

Explain other medical conditions and allergies you have to your doctor and provide a list of current Rx drugs and over-the-counter medications or products you use, including herbal preparations and dietary or vitamin supplements so your doctor can decide if Epiduo Gel is right for you. Ask your doctor if there are any risks to using Epiduo Gel while you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant or are breast feeding.

Epiduo Gel Precautions

Avoid the use of harsh skin products while using Epiduo Gel so your skin will not become sore and flakey. Your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays so proper steps should be taken to avoid sunlight exposure, including using an SPF (sun protection factor) 15 or higher on your exposed skin, wear a hat, and long-sleeved shirts.
