FINACEA GEL (AZELAIC ACID)

Finacea Gel Description

Finacea Gel is a prescription strength medicine that will help reduce rosacea, a benign skin condition that commonly afflicts fair-skinned people and usually involves the center area of your face, such as the forehead, cheeks, lower part of the nose, chin.

There are many triggers for a breakout or aggravation of rosacea including extreme weather, spicy foods, alcohol, sun exposure, stress, certain medications, and strenuous exercising. Applying Azelaic Acid, the active ingredient in Finacea Gel, can help to destroy the 2 main bacteria that normally lives on your skin and can result in acne outbreaks, namely Propionibacteria acnes (P. acnes) and Staphylococcus epidermis.

How the Active Ingredient Can Help Improve Your Skin’s Appearance

Finacea Gel is a mild exfoliant that is applied to your face and left on to work its magic as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial product that helps to unclog your pores where anaerobic bacteria called Propionibacteria acnes (P.acnes) love to grow and multiply. This action helps to reduce inflammation that can flare-up as an immune response to the bacteria or other microbes. Azelaic Acid is known for improving the looks of acne-like scars and small imperfections on your skin. There is no cure for rosacea but treating with Finacea Gel can help diminish the pimples, papules, and redness when it flares up.

Conditions Treated by Finacea Gel

There are four subtypes of rosacea that are identified as Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR) that causes your face to flush easily and dilated blood vessels become quite visible near the surface of the skin around your face. The skin on your ears, neck, upper back and scalp may also be affected by dry flaky skin. Papulopustular rosacea is sometimes mistaken for acne because of the red bumps and pus-filled pimples that can erupt. Phymatous rosacea can cause a thickening of your skin and irregular nodules on your chin, forehead, nose, and ears with visible small blood vessels. Ocular rosacea causes a gritty, dry, irritated sensation in your eyes that can blur your vision or impair your sight.

Before You Receive a Finacea Gel Rx

Ask your doctor about any risks of Finacea Gel if applied while you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding. Explain other medical conditions or allergies you have to your doctor and list any OTC and Rx drugs you currently take or use, including alternative and complimentary meds, so it can be determined if Finacea Gel is right for you.

Finacea Gel Precautions

Wash your hands before and after applying Finacea Gel and be careful not to get any in your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina. Be patient as it could take up to a month before you notice any improvement in the appearance of your skin. If you are experiencing burning or irritation from applying Finacea Gel twice daily, talk to your doctor about reducing treatment to once a day. Finacea Gel and other medicinal products should be stored safely out of children’s reach.
