KAZANO (ALOGLIPTIN/METFORMIN)

Kazano Description

Kazano is an oral medication that is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes, also referred to as non-insulin diabetes. If you are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, it means your body is either not producing sufficient amounts of insulin to control your blood sugar or the insulin that you produce is not being utilized properly. For this reason, your doctor can prescribe Kazano that contains 2 active ingredients to help control your blood sugar levels.

Kazano is a combination of Alogliptin/Metformin. Alogliptin works to increase levels of a substance called incretins whose job it is to control your blood sugar by increasing the release of insulin as well as lowering sugar amounts your liver makes. Metformin aids in restoring your body’s response to the insulin you produce naturally and lowers the sugar amounts your liver makes and your stomach absorbs. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Before Kazano is Prescribed

Ask your doctor about the safety of taking Kazano if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or are breast feeding. Before using Kazano, advise your doctor if you have a medical history of: breathing problems, such as asthma; obstructive lung disease; kidney disease; liver problems; pancreatitis; gallstones; or vitamin B12 deficiency. Discuss other OTC and Rx drugs you take or use so your doctor can determine if there will be any adverse side effects when taken with Kazano.

Kazano Precautions

Kazano is for treatment of type 2 diabetes and should not be used to treat type 1 diabetes. Alogliptin can cause pancreatitis. You should stop using Kazano and call your doctor at once if you have severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, and loss of appetite. All medications should be stored out of children’s reach and never shared with others.
