When applied as directed, the active ingredient in Locoid Scalp Lotion called Hydrocortisone Butyrate is absorbed into your skin cells and networks with the nuclei of the DNA cells to make proteins. These proteins, called lipocortins, block the production of a chemical that is essential to your inflammatory response, so you’ll find relief from inflammation of your scalp. Locoid Scalp Lotion also lightens up the action of immune cells to calm down excessive inflammation and constricts capillaries to help reduce any pain and swelling that can occur with eczema and psoriasis.

Before Locoid Scalp Lotion is Prescribed

Discuss your medical history with your doctor and include any current OTC or Rx drugs you take or use that may interfere with using Locoid Scalp Lotion. Precautions for Locoid Scalp Lotion

Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, do not apply Locoid Scalp Lotion and cover it up with a towel or cap as this will increase the absorption of Hydrocortisone Butyrate and possible serious side effects as it is considered a potent corticosteroid.
