Information About Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is usually performed as an out-patient procedure where you are in and out the same day. The most common method of removing a cataract is called phacoemulsification. This involves a small incision being made in the side of your cornea where a tiny instrument is inserted that uses high frequency ultrasound to break up the center of your cloudy lens which is then skillfully suctioned out.

Now you are ready to receive the clear synthetic lens, called an intraocular lens or IOL.
