Tindamax Description

Tindamax belongs to a class of antibiotics known as nitroimidazoles that work by stopping the growth of bacteria and protozoa. Tinidazole is used to treat Trichomoniasis; a sexually transmitted disease that can affect men and women, Giardiasis; an infection of the intestine that can cause diarrhea, gas, and stomach cramps, and Amebiasis ;an infection of the intestine that can cause diarrhea, gas, and stomach cramps and can spread to other organs such as the liver.

How Nitroimidazoles Affect Bad Micro-Organisms in Your Body

When taken as directed, Tindamax or generic Tinidazole will target and damage the genetic material (DNA) of the anaerobic bacteria. Anaerobic refers to the fact that these bacteria do not require any oxygen in order to survive. Without their DNA, the micro-organisms are unable to form new DNA and grow so they die and your infection clears up. Conditions Treated by Tindamax

Giardiasis is an intestinal infection caused by a microscopic parasite that is found worldwide. Symptoms of Giardia infection include abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and bouts of watery diarrhea. Giardia infection is a waterborne infection and can be caused by parasites found in backcountry streams and lakes, as well as in municipal water supplies, swimming pools, whirlpool spas and wells. Giardiasis may be treated with a single dose of Tindamax.

Amebiasis is an infection of the intestines caused by the parasite Endameba histolytica. This parasite can live in the colon without causing damage to the intestine, but in some cases it invades the colon wall, causing colitis, acute dysentery, and chronic diarrhea. The infection can also spread through the blood to the liver. In rare cases, it can spread to the lungs, brain, or other organs.

When Tindamax is prescribed for the treatment of Trichomoniasis, which is a sexually transmitted disease, partners of infected patients should be treated at the same time. Take precautions against spreading Trichomoniasis to other sexual partners and use a condom or abstain from intercourse until the treatment is completed.

Before Tindamax is Prescribed

Discuss possible risks of taking Tindamax if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or are breast feeding. Before you take Tindamax, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis), epilepsy or other seizure disorder, a blood cell disorder such as anemia or low platelets, or a weak immune system.

Tindamax Precautions and Recommendations

You should not drink alcohol while you are taking Tindamax (also called Fasigyn) and for three days after finishing your course of treatment. This is because drinking alcohol with Tindamax or generic Tinidazole is likely to make you feel very sick and cause other unpleasant side effects. All medications should be kept out of children’s reach and never shared with anyone else.
