TUDORZA PRESSAIR (ACLIDINIUM BROMIDE)

Tudorza Pressair Description

Bronchospasms can cause mild to severe breathing difficulties that can make even the simplest task take your breath away. Climbing stairs, putting laundry away, walking the dog, or loading and unloading groceries can trigger wheezing, coughing, and a shortness of breath.

Tudorza Pressair contains Aclidinium Bromide, a powder inhalant taken twice daily to keep your airways open so you are able to perform your scheduled tasks without becoming breathless. You will still need a rescue inhaler for sudden bronchospasms as Tudorza Pressair is long-acting, not fast-acting.

How Tudorza Pressair Allows Airways to Open

When used as directed, Tudorza Pressair will work to block acetylcholine, a chemical that is responsible for activating muscles in your peripheral nervous system that causes your airways and nasal passages to narrow. By interfering with the actions of acetylcholine, the muscles that surround your airways will relax and allow you to breathe easier. Tudorza Pressair is not a cure for COPD, but it can help you function comfortably throughout your day.

More About Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease-COPD

COPD includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Chronic bronchitis involves a constant inflammatory condition in your lungs that leads to scarring of your bronchial tubes. The swelling and irritation also causes an increase in mucus production that makes breathing difficult and a cough develops as your body tries to expel the excess phlegm.

Emphysema tends to develop gradually, destroying the air sacs in your lungs that are responsible for exchanging the oxygen from the air you breathe into carbon dioxide in your blood. As the damage to the air sacs continue, your lungs transfer less oxygen to your bloodstream and you experience a shortness of breath. You find that exhaling is very hard as your lungs lose their elasticity over time. Smoking is the biggest cause of emphysema.

Before You Use Tudorza Pressair

Discuss other medical conditions or allergies with your doctor and list any current over-the-counter or Rx meds you use or take, including herbal remedies and dietary or vitamin supplements to determine if Tudorza Pressair is the right inhalant for your situation. If you still smoke, ask your doctor what to recommend to help you quit.

Tudorza Pressair Recommendations and Proper Use

Until you know how Tudorza Pressair will affect you, do not drive or perform any task that requires you to be alert. Never share Tudorza Pressair, or any drugs, with others. If you find that you need your rescue inhaler more often, revisit your doctor as soon as possible. If you are still able to become pregnant or are breast feeding, ask your doctor about any risks with using Tudorza Pressair.
