RAZADYNE (GALANTAMINE)

Razadyne Description

Razadyne or the generic Galantamine may be prescribed to treat mild to moderate dementia related to Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia is the name for a group of symptoms caused by disorders that affect the brain. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common cause of dementia, is a brain disorder that affects areas of the brain involved in memory, intelligence, and judgment. The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.

Improve Nerve Cell Function in Your Brain

One of the features of Alzheimer's disease appears to be a lower than normal level of acetylcholine one of many neurotransmitters found in your brain. This is due in part to degeneration of brain cells, in particular those that normally release acetylcholine. Razadyne works by preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase which destroys acetylcholine. This results in an increase in the concentration of your acetylcholine neurotransmitters your thinking improves.

Conditions Treated by Razadyne

Alzheimer's disease (AD) usually begins after age 60 and starts slowly. Short term memory is usually affected early on in the disease and people with AD may have trouble remembering names of people they know or events that happened recently. As the disease progresses, people with AD may forget how to perform simple daily tasks or wander away from home and will eventually require full time care. Treatment with medication like Razadyne or Galantamine generic will not cure Alzheimer’s disease, but may improve the ability to think and remember or slow the loss of these abilities in people who have AD.

Before Razadyne is Prescribed
